XRF Analyzers for Elemental Analysis (EDXRF / TXRF) — by Xenemetrix and GNR
X-ray fluorescence (XRF) identifies and quantifies the elements in a sample immediately and without destroying it — solids, liquids and powders. Two Theta quotes EDXRF instruments from Xenemetrix and benchtop TXRF instruments from GNR for mining, petrochemical, environmental, food, polymer and academic work.

How It Works
How XRF Works
X-ray fluorescence (XRF) tells you which elements are in a sample and how much of each, without destroying it.
- Excite
The X-ray tube fires primary X-rays at the sample and knocks an inner-shell electron out of an atom.
- Fluoresce
An outer-shell electron drops in and the atom emits a fluorescent X-ray whose energy is characteristic of that element.
- Measure and report
The detector measures the energy and intensity, and the software identifies and quantifies the elements.
Applications
What Can XRF Do for You?

Mining and Minerals
Quantify the elements in ore and process samples for grade control and quality monitoring.

Petrochemicals and Fuels
Analyse the elements in oils, fuels and petrochemical products.

Environment
Measure elements in soil, sediment and particulates collected on air filters.

Food and Agriculture
Check major and trace elements in food and crops.

Polymers and Plastics
Screen for restricted elements such as Pb, Hg, Cd, Cr and Br (RoHS).
