Desktop Retained Austenite Analyzer — AreX D by GNR
The AreX D is a benchtop retained-austenite analyzer built to ASTM E 975-13. It measures down to 1% by volume within minutes, weighs 37 kg and is air-cooled, so no cooling water is needed.

AreX D — technical detail
AreX D — key specifications
- Benchtop XRD for measuring retained austenite per ASTM E 975-13
- Down to 1 vol% in a few minutes · typical measuring time 180 seconds
- Mo-anode X-ray tube, 50 W, air-cooled, with Zr filter
- 2θ range 21.5°–44.5° · DECTRIS MYTHEN2 R 1D microstrip detector
- Video camera for sample alignment · sample holder 200 × 150 × 70 mm
- Safety: door interlock, thick steel frame and lead shielding, radiation below 1 mSv/year
AreX D — size and installation
490 × 550 × 360 mm, 37 kg, 110/220 V 50/60 Hz. The X-ray tube is air-cooled, so no cooling water is needed.
Used for heat-treatment quality control and gear/bearing parts — GNR’s example measures three points on a gear tooth (pitch diameter, top land, top corner).
